But since that can take quite a bit of time, you might wanna grab a cosmetic so you have something pretty to look at while you patiently wait for your time in the sun. And if you’re looking for suggestions then you’ve come to the right place. Here’s my ranking covering all of Veigar’s skins, ranking them based on features, price, and overall appeal.
12. White Mage Veigar
Released: December 17th, 2009 Price: 390 RP Just like most veteran players, this was the first skin I ever bought. With the RP you started off with, it was either this or Assassin Master Yi – and man was it a tough choice. So White Mage Veigar holds a lot of sentimental value to a lot of players. All of that being said, however, the skin is literally just a recolor. And not even a particularly good one at that. So unless you’re completely strapped for cash and just want a skin for the sake of having a skin, I would keep looking.
11. Curling Veigar
Released: February 12th, 2010 Price: 520 RP Curling Veigar really makes me question how skin ideas got tossed around back in the day. How did our little evil mage with a giant metal glove ever get connected to curling? And it’s not even like they tried to incorporate it somehow into the look… they just gave him a broom and a sweatshirt. It just looks weird, doesn’t offer any new animations or particles, and has a splash art design that looks like it was drawn onto cave walls. Unless you have a weird sense of humor and find it hilarious how stupid this is, I would not get this skin.
10. Baron Von Veigar
Released: June 27th, 2011 Price: 975 RP Although also old, at least Baron Von Veigar makes a lick of sense. The trope of a small and feisty leader will always be hilarious when done right. And I think the champion model does this theme justice. He has his helmet on, a scarf around his neck, a pimp cane, some nice gloves, and even a ring to showcase his power. Or purity, I don’t judge. I do think the skin looks neat – but charging 975 RP for just a character remodel is a bit on the steep side. Plus, the base ability animations make literally no sense with this character model. So this skin gets some immersion deductions there. I do love the name though. It has a really nice ring to it.
9. Veigar Greybeard
Released: September 8th, 2010 Price: 750 RP This skin was basically begging to be created the second that Riot decided Veigar was going to be a staff-wielding wizard. The Gandalf aesthetic is pretty spot-on here, and really makes for some hilarious gameplay. I especially love the beard; but I don’t know why. Plus, all of the base animations make sense with this design – since he looks like the most stereotypical wizard on Earth. Overall, this is just a simple and funny skin that only falls behind others due to a lack of “wow” factor. You’ll quickly see what I mean by that.
8. Superb Villain Veigar
Released: January 2nd, 2012 Price: 975 RP I’m honestly surprised this isn’t just the base model for Veigar. It fits everything about him so perfectly. Just listening to the voice lines with this skin feels like watching a cartoon. The twirly moustache already had be locked and loaded. But the fact that Riot also gave him a top hat and a matching purple suit? Priceless. This skin also features some particle and animation changes, but it’s honestly not anything to write home about. Ultimately this skin fits Veigar like a glove. And the idea is brilliant, or should I say superb, but there’s so much more you could do with him – so unfortunately Superb Villain Veigar gets outranked pretty heavily.
7. Leprechaun Veigar
Released: March 15th, 2011 Price: 520 RP Out of all the Veigar skins, I think this is the one Veigar would hate the most. The design is hysterical, and I swear it’s impossible to be tilted while having it on. Not only do we get another bearded Veigar, but he’s literally carrying a giant four-leaf clover around, going from Lucky Charm to Lucky Harm in the matter of seconds. It’s also worth noting that this skin, despite its extremely low price, nets you some new animations! Both your E and your W now get some nice rainbow effects, which is just so fitting because late-game you truly will find gold under that W rainbow. Usually around 300 to be exact. All jokes aside, newer skins simply outperform this one by a lot, with new particles, effects, and clever designs. So for now it’ll have to say all the way down here.
6. Astronaut Veigar
Released: July 1st, 2021 Price: 1350 RP Even though this is among Veigar’s newest skins, I don’t think that it’s his best. It just feels slightly weird, since you don’t get that same “I’m the boss” energy like you usually do. The animations are on the cuter side of things, with a little alien popping up after your W, around your E, and even in your ult. And that’s my main gripe with the skin: Throwing a literal alien with your ult just seems stupid to me. The skin does have some really fun features, like great sound effects, a pretty funny backing animation, and a nice voice filter. But I just can’t get over that ult. All that said, you can definitely feel that this is a newer skin – it’s smooth as butter. But I think Astronaut Veigar is on the lower end of the high-tier skins.
5. Furyhorn Cosplay Veigar
Released: April 1st, 2020 Price: 1350 RP Furyhorn Cosplay Veigar runs into a lot of the same issues as Astronaut Veigar, but I will admit that this one is a lot funnier. The mere fact that you’re canonically a furry with this skin already makes it very special. Carrying the URF spatula around and having it present in both the Q and E animation is even better. The little squeak at the end of your W with a pop-up of your furry friend… it’s probably the most insulting way to one-shot someone in the entire game. And the backing animation is just adorable. All of that being said, I still hate that you throw that same furry friend with your ult. Maybe it’s just me and all of this sounds stupid. But I want to throw magic, not magical beasts.
4. Bad Santa Veigar
Released: December 14th, 2012 Price: 975 RP If you’re looking for the best budget skin, this is it right here. For only 975 RP you get a really jolly character model, new animations, particles, and sound effects. You even get a really funny backing animation of Veigar preparing himself mentally to jump into a chimney. As far as the actual abilities are concerned, everything is as Christmas-y as you would imagine. Plenty of ringing bell sound effects, Christmas trees, and the most unwanted present on your ult. The model is great, the splash art is great, the idea is great. It might seem weird to wear it all year ‘round, but nevertheless I think Bad Santa Veigar is among the best that Veigar has to offer.
3. Omega Squad Veigar
Released: July 26th, 2017 Price: 1350 RP When discussing fictional characters, there’s always that one person who goes “why don’t they just get a gun?” Well, that person was obviously present in Riot’s design room, because they went and gave Veigar a gun. He uses it for his auto-attacks with this skin – and man does it look hilarious. The entire idea of Veigar being this elite soldier doesn’t seem like it would work on paper. But it performs beautifully in-game. You also get a big, shiny red button as part of your design – which he does actually press when dropping an aerial strike W, or putting up an electric fence E, so we can give some immersion points to this one. Also, your backing animation here is the most relatable backing animation I have seen in League. Veigar obviously has no idea what he’s doing, and honestly same. This splash art is pretty epic too. The ult does feel slightly underwhelming though, as it just looks like a normal energy blast. But that isn’t enough to rob this skin of its top-tier spot in our ranking.
2. Elderwood Veigar
Released: August 29th, 2019 Price: 1350 RP Elderwood Veigar’s splash art is just raw horror fuel, and I am loving it. This is one of very few skins that actually makes Veigar look intimidating and powerful, rather than goofy and annoying. Those eyes can see into your soul – and the mushroom king will show no mercy. I can’t stress enough how much I love the character model here too. You rarely get something this creative and unique from the cosmetics store. And when it comes to the animations and particles, everything is in tip-top shape. The Q, W, and E all look fairly decent, with enough magical particles to go along with the skin. And the ult feels appropriately dangerous, which is a huge plus in my books. The splash art brings some of that goofy nature back, but I can hardly call that a bad thing. Overall this is an amazing idea with amazing execution. And it’s definitely a skin worth checking out.
1. Final Boss Veigar
Released: August 27th, 2014 Price: 1820 RP It always feels cheap to just put the most expensive skin at number one. But I can’t argue against facts. Veigar was born to play this role – and it fits him perfectly! The retro sound effects not only look great, but also make CSing a bit easier. The abilities all look impactful and stylized, especially the black cube of death ult, and that’s just surface level stuff! Final Boss Veigar also brings out a new voice, some pretty funny voice lines, and new emotes, which are all great in their own way. His new laugh sounds more maniacal, and the design brings back some of that love for pixel art. Also the dance just looks hilarious. Even though this is far from a new skin, it obviously received a lot of care from the design team. Because I honestly can’t say a single bad thing about it. And that means something coming from a dude who debates the logistics of throwing creatures at your opponent.
