Verizon’s Push to Talk service has been available for quite some time, allowing subscribers to use a one-touch communication method that’s quite a bit quicker than a traditional phone call. It’s been long overdue for an upgrade, and Big Red has officially announced big changes for the service, and plenty of Android-based support right out of the gate. Announced by Verizon officially via their site on August 7, Push to Talk Plus is a significant upgrade over the previous generation of Push to Talk. Specifically, those who utilize the service will notice a faster connection to those they are trying to talk to, which will be utilized over an encrypted wireless service. Plus, users will notice an improvement in the overall voice quality during their conversations. The service will cost $5 per month for access, but Verizon notes that those who sign up now will be able to take advantage of the service for free, for 6 months.
