Verizon today announced through Twitter that it will start supporting Samsung Pay through a future software update on the Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Note 5, and Galaxy S6 edge+. Samsung rolled out Samsung Pay in the United States late last month. The payment service from the Korean company works on all its flagship devices released this year on T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T. For now, the payment service only cards from MasterCard, Visa, and American Express.
— Verizon News (@VerizonNews) October 6, 2015 Unlike Apple Pay and Android Pay, Samsung Pay works seamlessly with payment terminals that do not support NFC, which gives it a key advantage over its competition. However, the limited support from banks in the United States has greatly limited its reach. Verizon was initially a member of SoftCard, a NFC based payment service founded by all the carriers in the United States. The payment service was a huge failure, and was eventually sold to Google in March this year.
